2020年3月2日からネパール航空が（NEPAL AIRLINES)がカトマンズ⇄成田直行便の運行を始めるようです。これで東京からネパール国・カトマンズまで、トランジットなしで飛行時間約７時間ほどで、ヒマラヤまでの距離が短くになります。料金の今と比べて十分安くなるようです。

Nepal Earthquake 2015

On 2015 April 25, Magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit Nepal. The epicentre is the Barpark of Gorkha District and about 80 km from capital Kathmandu. The depth of epicentre is less than 20km, which is shallow and caused huge destruction in the ground. Major aftershock of magnitude 7.3 hit on May 12. Epicentre is Dolakha district, east of Kathmandu.

Installing SeismicUnix in MacOS X Mavericks

How to install Seismic Unix on mac OS X Mavericks

Seismic Unix is a open source seismic processing package supported by Central for Wave Phenomena (CWP) at the Colorado School of Mines. Seismic Unix (SU) package (latest 43R4) can be downloaded from  Seismic Unix Home page

Install XQuartz if not installed previously.

Here is step-by-step installation process in mac OS environment.

1. Download tar file in the path-----Users/You/cwpsu. It is better not to download in root

2. Uncompress or Untar the file using

                tar -xvf cwp_su_all_43R4.tar

3. In home folder, check for .bash_profile and set CWPROOT environment after editing it as

Create .bash_profile 

In Terminal, Go to home folder.

Type touch .bash_profile to create new .bash_profile file.

Open and edit with TextEdit, by typing open -e .bash_profile

 An example of .bash_profile

        . ~/.bashrc

               You can check environment by

5. In cwpsu/src, rename Makefile.config (or delete) --> Makefile.configXX. 

Copy Makefile.config_MacOSX_Lion from the folder cwpsu/src/configs to the folder cwpsu/src. Rename as Makefile.config. 

(>< Make file for  OSX Lion works fine for OSX Mavericks)

              Rename Makefile.config_MacOSX_Lion----->Makefile.config (In folder cwpsu/src)

$CWPROOT/src/Makefile.config

6. Install by entering command - make install

7. Type command - make xtinstall 

8. Check by typing command - suplane | suximage &

Ghandruk is a famous tourist destination in Nepal. Trekking starts from NAYAPUL, Myagdi, nearly 40 Km from the POKHARA. There is many buses and taxis that run from Pokhara to Nayapul. A gravel road extends from Nayapul to Kimchi of Myagdi district. Length of the gravel road is nearly 16 km. There is some buses and Jeep running between Nayapul and Kimchi. The fare is reasonable. It costs just NRs. 300 (~ US$ 4) to reach Kimchi. But road is bumping and widespread dust.  Ghandruk can be reached after an hour walk from the Kimchi. Newly opened track is closed during the rainy season.

Inflight service in the Japan Airlines flight from Tokyo to San Francisco is very good. CA are sincere and helpful. The flight is punctual. Flight JL 001 from San Francisco to Tokyo arrived nearly a hour faster than the estimated landing time. This is very good because of the late night arrival at Haneda international airport. I could catch train to home. The only thing is the inflight meals. Inflight meals in the Japan Air flight was good but too cold.

Ghandruk, Nepal: The best destination for MINI TREKKERS

Trekking around Nepal himalaya is really amazing and full of breathtaking experience. Nepal himalaya is a part of Himalaya range. Nepal himalaya housed 8 out of 14 mountains with height greater than 8000 m. I cannot imaging to reach near base camp but I wanted to see those mountain as close as possible. So I chose Ghandruk, which is easily accessible. Ghandruk, a famous tourist spot in Nepal, lies in mid western part of Nepal. Nayapul to Ghandruk route is one of the comfortable trekking routes in Nepal. It is also lies in the trekking route to Annapurna base camp (ABC) or PunHill. Pokhara, a beautiful city, is a gateway to Ghandruk. We could see Annapurna South (7,219 m) and Fishtail mountain (6,993 m) very closely. Morning light strike turned both mountain into golden colour, It was splendid view. This is one of the best moments of my life.

ネパールでまた飛行機事故がありました。今日朝6時15分カトマンズからルクラへ出発した シタ エア (Sita Air) のドルニエの旅客機が飛び立ったわずか３分でカトマンズの トリブバン 空港の近くマノハラ川に墜落し、乗っていたクルー3人含めて乗客19人すべてが死亡したとネパールのメディアが伝えています。

gcc not found in mac terminal

After upgrading to OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, gcc compiler package was lost and gcc command seems missing. 
When entering 'gcc -v' command in terminal, it displayed gcc command not found. 

To install gcc back, Command line tools in Xcode should be installed.

Open Xcode, go to preferences... Command Line Tools is in Downloads section. 

If Command Line Tools is not installed, just install it or update it.

gcc compiler installed or not can be checked by entering 'gcc -v' or simply 'gcc' command.
