Japan Airlines inflight meals in Tokyo to San Francisco Route

Japan Airlines inflight meals in Tokyo to San Francisco Route

Inflight service in the Japan Airlines flight from Tokyo to San Francisco is very good. CA are sincere and helpful. The flight is punctual. Flight JL 001 from San Francisco to Tokyo arrived nearly a hour faster than the estimated landing time. This is very good because of the late night arrival at Haneda international airport. I could catch train to home. The only thing is the inflight meals. Inflight meals in the Japan Air flight was good but too cold.

Ghandruk, Nepal: The best destination for MINI TREKKERS

Ghandruk Mini Trek

Trekking around Nepal himalaya is really amazing and full of breathtaking experience. Nepal himalaya is a part of Himalaya range. Nepal himalaya housed 8 out of 14 mountains with height greater than 8000 m. I cannot imaging to reach near base camp but I wanted to see those mountain as close as possible. So I chose Ghandruk, which is easily accessible. Ghandruk, a famous tourist spot in Nepal, lies in mid western part of Nepal. Nayapul to Ghandruk route is one of the comfortable trekking routes in Nepal. It is also lies in the trekking route to Annapurna base camp (ABC) or PunHill. Pokhara, a beautiful city, is a gateway to Ghandruk. We could see Annapurna South (7,219 m) and Fishtail mountain (6,993 m) very closely. Morning light strike turned both mountain into golden colour, It was splendid view. This is one of the best moments of my life.

gcc not found in mac terminal

After upgrading to OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, gcc compiler package was lost and gcc command seems missing.
When entering 'gcc -v' command in terminal, it displayed gcc command not found.

To install gcc back, Command line tools in Xcode should be installed.

Open Xcode, go to preferences... Command Line Tools is in Downloads section.

If Command Line Tools is not installed, just install it or update it.

gcc compiler installed or not can be checked by entering 'gcc -v' or simply 'gcc' command.

Gnuplot stop plotting in Mountain Lion

After upgrading Lion to Mountain Lion, GNUPLOT stop plotting the stuffs. I already downloaded XQuartz as Mountain Lion doesn't include X11 and Aquaterm isn't supported in Mountain Lion. XQuartz can be downloaded from here.

To get plot using Gnuplot, I just added

                               export GNUTERM='x11'

to my .bash_profile
Now Gnuplot start plotting. That's great...助かりました。

Climbing Mt Fuji (富士山登山)

Climbing Mt Fuji (富士山登山)

Panoramic view from the top of Mt Fuji

Mt Fuji (富士山, 3776 m) is the Japan's highest peak formed by volcanic origin. It is one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Climbing Mt Fuji can make a life long experience. The official climbing season start from July to end of August. Climbing Mt Fuji in these two month is very popular in Japan so that trail in July and August is very crowded even in weekdays. We climbed Mt Fuji at night. The most most cheapest and convenient way of reaching 5th station from central Tokyo is by Highway Bus from Shinjuku. Number of highway buses are operated in morning and evening during the climbing season and it cost 2600 Yen.

Spending some hours in 5th station (2300 m) is good to reduce possibility of altitude sickness. We took Fujikyu bus from Shinjuku at 4:55 pm and reached 5th station around 7 pm.

Mt Fuji from 5th station (2300 m), 8 pm, July 26, 2012

We start climbing Mt  Fuji at around 8 pm from 5th station. 6th and 7th station is easy to reach. From the 8th station, crowd of hikers appeared and we lost our pace due to traffic jam in the trail. The trail is slightly difficult and single lane and slow hikers may cause long crowd behind. There is some mountain huts which serve some foods overnight. Here is some information on huts in Mt Fuji hiking route (in Japanese).

Viewing sunrise from the top of Mt Fuji is popular and many  hikers stayed in 7th or 8th station and start climbing at around 1am to 3 am. So Huts operators are very busy around that time and they may not serve food for those who don't stay in their huts. We took udon ( Japanese noodles) at mountain hut of 8th station at around 2 am. It costs 750 yen, which is nearly 3 times of the price in Tokyo but still acceptable in that altitude.  Using toilet in 6th to 9th station is 200 Yen per use and there is no water flushing. At the summit, one time toilet use costs 300 Yen. Because of the crowded trail up to the top, it takes longer to reach at summit. We reached summit at around 4 am in the morning. The view from the summit is really unexplainable in the word. It was amazing. The crowd of people in the summit are waiting for the spectacular view of sunrise.

The day was very clear. We waited for sunrise with lots of other hikers. At around 4: 45 am, yolk like sun appeared in the horizon. Sunrise (御来光) from the top of Mt Fuji, was really amazing and one of unforgettable moments of life. After seeing sunrise we made a round around Fuji crater which took about a hour. Mt Fuji is snow-free on July and August, but there is some snow in crater and in west mountain slope.

Descending is easy and takes about three and half hours. Descending trail is wide but due to presence in peebles and rock fragments, knee pain is most likely to happen. Using hiking stick is best for the Mt Fuji. The central Tokyo can be reached from the  5th station by Fujikyuko (富士急行) bus. It takes about 2 hrs and 5 minutes to reach Shinjuku station. Sacrificing a night sleep worth well for the Mt Fuji hiking.

After viewing sunrise, most of the hikers walk around Mt Fuji crater.

Extreme wind and cold in the top was really dangerous

Searching Job In Japan

Searching job in Japan is really hard if you don't know Japanese and some little tricks. Generally new graduate hiring for April starts from October or December (in case of 2013) of previous year. I  got a job confirmation last month for April 2013 entry. Here I am explaining the steps I took during the job hunting process. First one should register in internet based job navigation websites such as RIKUNABI, MYNAVI, NIKKEIGAIJINPOT etc.

The general process is

1. Make account of job navigation websites by filling designated form
2. Search for the company you prefer
3. Bookmark and make a entry
4. Take part in company recruit seminar (会社説明会)
5. Fill up the entry sheet
6. Take SPI test, hikki test and aptitude test
7. If you pass stage 6, you will be informed for the interview (2 or 3 times)
8. If you pass stage 7, you will get 'NAI NAI TEI (内々定)' a formal offer from the company.
9. Company entry as a new graduate (入社)

There are other process of entering company too, but for this you should have meet the criteria set by the company.  Before starting job hunting in Japan, learning Japanese may be very useful...

Road Travel in Nepal

Roads in Nepal

Nepal is mountainous country and 73 % of territory is either mountain or hilly region. Constructing good road is one of big challenges in Nepal. There are many road accidents all over the year but most occurs especially in summer.

Kathmandu-Jalbire Road. Balephi, Sindupalchowk.

Balephi, Sindupalchok

Surkhet-Dailekh road is one of the most dangerous roads in Nepal. Buses are too old and feel like missing suspension on it.

Way to Okhaldunga. Is it really a road?

Bus to Okhaldhunga. Tyre punctured after moving for half an hour. Started at 4 PM from Ghhurmi, reached Okhaldunga 11 am next day. It was just around 40 km. At least I heard there is no accident till the date I used. Very old buses. Too many passengers. But the bus drivers are very good and well experienced.

Using iCloud as a Dropbox

Here is a method how to share various type of file or folder using iCloud.

It is not officially proven process but works fine over two macs with same apple id. It is easy, just copy the file or folder to share inside

 /Library/MobileDocument.

If Library folder is not found, go to the finder, in go menu, click on go to Folder and enter

~/Library/

You can put file or folder upto 5Gb inside 「Mobile Document 」folder for free. Storage can be checked from iCloud in system preference.

These files can be  accessed from any macs that  signed in with same apple id.

Dailekh, Nepal

Far from the town: Dailekh, Nepal

These photographs were taken in Dailekh bazar, a headquarter of Dailekh district in Mid-western region of Nepal. The exact place can be reached by about half an hour walk from the central Dailekh bazar. I was surprised after seeing these structures which are never been explained in any history books. May be these monuments are not known to many...Who and when these structures were constructed? still not known.... because it lies in the remote place of Nepal. One local resident told us these structures were made by 'Pandav'. If he is true, these were built in pre historic era. These area should have historical importance and these monuments should be considered as national treasure.

One of the most important attractions in Dailekh is deposit of petroleum products and gas. Flame of burning gas in Dailekh, Nepal is evidence of gas deposit in Nepal. It is locally known as  Kalo Jwala. Some petroleum products can be seen floating in the small stream in and around Nabistan temple of Dailekh. This may be economically important gas reserve in future.

I hope, one day some archeologists will explore these area....
